An interim gravel carpark will be installed at Gnomesville by the Shire of Dardanup in the next three to four months until a concept plan for further improvements is adopted by the community and Council.
It is expected a final plan to guide future works will be completed and adopted by October, 2018.
Shire staff has conducted a survey of the site and are now developing the concept plan for improvements at Gnomesville which will include:
- Carparking area
- Determining the limits of the site and installation of a fence
- Improving walkways
- Creating location for a pop-up visitor centre
- Picnic settings
- Possibly public toilets.
Once staff has completed the draft plan, a consultation process with the community and various stakeholders will be undertaken before finalising the plan.
Shire of Dardanup CEO Mark Chester said: “We received strong feedback from the community about its expectations for the future of Gnomesville through a previous consultation process.
“In response to that feedback we are working towards a future plan that balances local wishes while capitalising on the potential provided by the site as a nationally-recognised tourist location.”
Stay tuned for further updates as this project progresses…
