New sports facilities declared officially open

Sport & Recreation Minister Mick Murray and Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett officially open the new sports facilities.

Two years of planning, 10 months of construction and an investment of $6.6 million culminated in the official opening yesterday of new community facilities at Glen Huon Reserve in the heart of Eaton.

The event marked a milestone in the history of the Eaton Boomers Football Club and the Bunbury & Districts Softball Club.

Included in the redevelopment of Glen Huon Reserve have been:

  • Football Pavilion – 490m2 with licensed bar, commercial kitchen, function room and elevated viewing of the playing fields
  • Football Change rooms -390m2 Four team change rooms, two umpire change rooms, warm up room, first aid room, enclosed coach’s box and score keeper’s box
  • Softball Pavilion – 450m2 with licensed bar, commercial kitchen, function room and elevated viewing of playing fields
  • Re-located and upgraded playground, still under construction
  • Fencing
  • Carparks

The Shire of Dardanup’s project budget included a funding contribution of $3 million from the State Government via the Department of Sport & Recreation.

The Master Plan and buildings were designed by MCG Architects and Pindan Ptd Ltd undertook the construction.
