M8 the call can W8 Easter campaign

RoadWise Committees across the South West and Peel Regions have banded together to remind drivers that the use of mobile phones while behind the wheel is a distraction from the task of driving.

Any distraction increases the risk of a crash.

This popular campaign has been extended until the end of April to cover the Easter and school holiday period.

There will be five texting bays, identified by electronic signs, along the Forrest and South West Highways from April 7 to 28, 2017.

FORREST HIGHWAY
  • Parking bay south of Buffalo Road (Southbound)
  • Dorsett Road rest areas (either Northbound or Southbound)
  • Parking bay north of Greenlands Road (Southbound)
SOUTH WESTERN HIGHWAY
  • Rest Area north of Placid Ark Roadhouse (Southbound)
  • Parking bay south of Melville Road, Brunswick Junction (Northbound)

People are encouraged to turn off their mobile phones before driving and wait to pull in to a texting bay to use their phones.
