Cottonbush does not actively grow in winter so now is a good time to mow or slash if the weed is a problem on your property.
This should be followed up with an application of herbicide in spring or early summer.
Cottonbush is a highly invasive pest so if there are any seed pods on the plant when you’re pulling, slashing or spraying, be sure to remove the pods and bag them up to dispose of responsibly.
The best practice is to control the spread of the plant is before it forms pods.
