DARDANUP TOWNSITE COMMUNITY FACILITIES PLAN


What is the Community Facilities Plan?

Based on community and stakeholder consultation and an evaluation of current facilities and future need, the Plan and associated report will provide guidance on the location, scale and staging for the upgrading and provision of existing and new community infrastructure for the Dardanup Townsite.

The Dardanup Community Facilities Plan will be presented as a collection of 4 evolving plans at the following intervals:

  • Current;
  • 5 Years;
  • 10 Years; and
  • 20 Years.

The plans will be supported by a report that will:

  • Detail community and stakeholder expectations.
  • Evaluate existing facilities.
  • Identify current and proposed Community Facilities and how these are best used and planned for.
  • Take into account planning and financial considerations.

The Purpose of the Plan

Dardanup is an attractive place to live and to visit and as more people make the Town and the surrounding area their home new facilities will be needed.

The Town is also seeking to attract increasing numbers of tourists to the locality to enjoy the Town, wineries, events and nearby attractions and the plan will also identify the needs of these visitors.

The purpose of the Dardanup Townsite Community Facilities Plan is to ensure a network of facilities across the locality to service the health, educational, social and recreational needs of the town enabling people of all ages to meet and participate in community life.

The plan will be developed based on assessment and analysis of the quantity and quality of existing community facilities in Dardanup, their varied functions and significance and the needs of citizens and other users.

The Plan considers Council’s existing plans and strategies, current building condition assessments, spatial distribution across the Shire, demographic analysis and projections, current use and function, benchmarks, cost effectiveness and gap analysis.


The Project Team

The Shire has engaged Bodhi Alliance, an independent consultancy specialising in town planning, community engagement and community facilities planning to develop the Community Facilities Plan for the Dardanup Townsite.

The Plan will provide the Shire of Dardanup with future directions to provide community facilities that will support the community life of residents, and encourage visitors from both within and outside the Dardanup Community to help promote local economic growth.

The Shire is committed to engaging with the Dardanup community and stakeholders to seek their views and aspirations for the future of the town and to make sure their views and ideas are captured and fed into the Plan.


Opportunities to Participate

The Shire would like to invite the people of Dardanup to participate in the Community Facilities Plan to explore any opportunities that will help improve the vitality, identity and character of Dardanup.

Community Survey

If you are a resident of Dardanup, you should have received a Community Survey in the post. Alternatively, you can complete the survey online.

Drop Off: Completed feedback forms can also be dropped off at the Community workshop on December 6, 2017 or at the Dardanup Library.

Community Workshop

As a local resident within the Dardanup Townsite, you are invited to attend a Community Workshop.  The purpose of the workshop is to explore opportunities for community facilities that will assist in the vitality, identity and character of the Dardanup Townsite.

  • Dardanup Hall, Ferguson Road, Dardanup
  • Light refreshments provided
