Council supports the landscaping of street verges by adjoining property owners, but approval must be obtained before any works are commenced.
Council has a policy relating to the type of verge treatment that can be used, to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists. A copy of the policy should be obtained and an application be submitted and approved prior to any planting of trees / shrubs or the placing of any obstructions or non-permeable material such as gravel, limestone, road base, concrete asphalt, brick paving etc.
All crossovers must be approved by the Council prior to commencing construction and must be inspected by Council during construction and at completion. Application forms are available at the Shire Office or on the Shire Website.
Property owners may be eligible to receive a part refund for an approved crossover. Property owners should contact the Shire Office before commencing or arranging the installation of a crossover. No subsidy is available for any crossover that has been provided without Council’s prior approval.
